Rain Checkboard games across the Northwest

The Pool · public · everyone opts in

Rain Check: Everyone

18 people followed the link in our Discord server, gave the address of their own page, and said yes. Nobody else is here. Anyone can read this Pool; each person decides who may write to them, and anyone can leave in one action. Rain Check and its people are invented. Kindling has no affiliation with Discord.

The charter

Everyone in Rain Check, the Northwest board-game community, who said yes to being findable off the server: at a Thursday table, on game day, or in any app that reads this file. You are listed only with your own yes, from your own page, in your own words. This is not the server, and it does not copy it. No ranking, no attendance counts, nothing for sale. Leave any time.

How it is kept

  • Two keepers, Fern and Rashid, so it never rests on one person. Co-keepers are first in line if a Pool ever needs a new keeper §9.3.
  • People are shown in the order they said yes, never by a score, never by how often they come.
  • The words on each card are that person’s own page, parsed after they said yes. Pictures stay on their pages §2.5.
  • A role on the server counts for nothing here. There is no field for one §3.2.
  • If nobody keeps it for 90 days it goes dormant, and nothing is deleted §9.1.

Listed

18 cards, in the order they said yes

A brass pip means the person said yes, and nothing else on this site is brass. Each card carries its verification level in words, the page it points to, and the tables its owner said yes to. Portraits are illustrations of invented people.

Said yes

Juni Abernathy followed the link on Saturday and their question is waiting. Answer it as Juni, and their card joins this page.

Ask the Pool

Who teaches? Who has seats?

Ask in plain words. Only people who said yes are in the file, so only they can come up §5.1. Answers appear in the order people said yes.

Try:
  • Rashid OmondiSigned in with OAuthTacoma

Teaches middle-school math in Tacoma and hosts the Tacoma table on Thursdays. Will teach you any game in ten minutes, and lets you win the first one only if you ask.

  • Odalys FuentesSigned in with OAuthSalem

Credit-union accountant in Salem. Keeps Big Game Day: the hall, the tables, the snack jar, and the note of who chipped in for the domain. Brings mahjong tiles and teaches anyone who sits down.

The box answers; it does not introduce anyone. Nothing was sent. This is an example, answered in this page from the manifest.

Who can write to whom

Who can write to Pip, checked

Pip Albright takes messages only from people in a Pool with her, and this Pool asks every sender to be at least email verified. Each row is checked in this page with Kindling’s rules and the Pool’s two block lists, the way a compliant client would §7.

Who writesResultRuleWhy
bulk-intros@relay.exampleBlocked§7.3 §7.3The sender is on a block list this Pool subscribes to: The Circular consortium block list (spam).

Rows three and four are the same person. Following the link and saying yes is what lets Juni write to Pip. Being in the server lets nobody write to anybody here.

Five smaller Pools

A Pool for each table, and one for game day

Separate Pools where a separate yes makes sense: saying yes to Everyone says nothing about any table. Each table’s host keeps its Pool; being host is being a curator, because v0.1 has no field for a role.

A member’s own screen

Leaving is one action

This is Anouk’s own screen: each Pool she said yes to, and one way out of each. Leaving sends one withdrawal message, and the Pool must act on it within sixty seconds §5.3. Her page stays hers. Anyone she already wrote to keeps the thread, because messages go by email §6.1. Leaving a Pool does not touch the server, and leaving the server does not touch a Pool.

Privacy in a Pool comes from its visibility. kindling_noindex means something else: “do not include me in any Pool at all” §2.7.
